SGI and NVIDIA Form Strategic Alliance

Companies Settle Patent Litigation

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, July 20 -- SGI and NVIDIA Corporation have announced a broad strategic alliance in which the companies will collaborate on future graphics technologies. SGI has dismissed its patent-infringement suit against NVIDIA, and NVIDIA has licensed SGI's enabling 3D-graphics patent portfolio. Further terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Since its founding it 1982, SGI has been awarded more than 400 patents related to 3D graphics, multimedia, and computer systems technology. NVIDIA supplies performance 3D graphics processors for a variety of PC-based applications, including enterprise visualization, e-commerce, e-business, education, and entertainment.
