ANSYS to Receive Patent for Web-Based Report Technology BOSTON, MA, Mar. 8 -- ANSYS, Inc., a provider of advanced CAE solutions, has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office intends to award the company a patent for its Web-based engineering data-reporting and collaboration technology. The patent, when issued, will protect technology for automatically generating reports from engineering data that represents attributes of physical objects created by CAD or CAE software. This technology was recently introduced to the engineering-simulation market as DesignSpace Report, and is contained in the DesignSpaceTM software. The patent will cover the methods of automatically generating "natural language" reports from the vast hierarchical data generated by CAD and CAE software. Utilizing interpretive rules and artificial intelligence, the technology requests files and generates reports via Internet using Web browsers. "This favorable decision from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office represents a significant milestone in our company's history," said Jim Cashman, president and CEO of ANSYS, Inc. "It also demonstrates ANSYS Inc.'s continued ability to recognize and leverage major technology advancements within the CAD and CAE markets.
