ANSYS Introduces "Drop Test" Simulation
SOUTHPOINTE, PA, May 16 -- ANSYS, Inc. now offers Drop Test simulation software. This new module is an add-on to ANSYS/LS-DYNATM, an explicit dynamic simulation software solution jointly developed by ANSYS and Livermore Software Technology Corporation. Drop Test is designed to provide users with a customized graphical user interface (GUI) that simplifies the process of simulating effects of high impact and shock during virtual product design. "Understanding the effect of shock and impact in consumer products prior to field failure saves companies money on physical prototyping and improves product quality," said Steve Pilz, product manager, ANSYS, Inc. "By determining the effects of high impact early in the product development cycle, companies can reduce time to market, improve product quality, and bring more reliable products to market."
According to ANSYS, the module's user-friendly GUI features a detailed, application-specific menu system that enables step-by-step management of drop-test simulations. Drop Test has applications in most consumer-product industries, such as electronics, power tools, household appliances, sports equipment, and toys. In addition, says the company, the module allows pre-existing models to be easily prepared for drop-test simulation. The Drop Test module is available immediately and upholds all ANSYS-supported UNIX and Windows NT operating systems.
