SolidWorks Introduces XchangeWorks

ANSYS/Professional Makes Debut

SolidWorks Introduces XchangeWorks
CHICAGO, Mar. 15 -- SolidWorks Corporation has announced XchangeWorks, a new data exchange plug-in designed to enable engineers to import solid modeling CAD data directly into AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop. According to SolidWorks integrates seamlessly with existing AutoCAD and Mechanical Desktop mechanical design environments, allowing for direct translation of part files created with many CAD products, such as SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER, and Unigraphics.

"SolidWorks is the first company to deliver an AutoCAD plug-in to import native CAD data," said John McEleney, vice president of product marketing for SolidWorks. "Many AutoCAD users are looking to move to 3D solid modeling but need to share 3D information today. XchangeWorks was developed to enable engineers to bring solid modeling part files directly into AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop using the Autodesk ARX interface."

The XchangeWorks application is available on CD for free, by ordering from the SolidWorks Web site at www.solidworks.com or at www.xchangeworks.com, or by calling 1-800-393-4118 in the U.S. or 1-978-371-5013 internationally. Top

ANSYS/Professional Debuts at
National Design Engineering Show
CHICAGO, Mar. 15 -- ANSYS, Inc. has announced the release of ANSYS/Professional, which the company says is designed to meet the demands of today's engineering enterprise.

ANSYS/Professional is designed to make setting up and running an analysis as easy as using any Windows application. According to ANSYS, the key to this new product technology is the graphical user interface (GUI) known as the Mechanical Toolbar, which features sequential tabbed menus and drop-down boxes.

"ANSYS software has traditionally required extensive training and engineering experience to run effectively in the past," said Frank Marx, manager of the ANSYS business unit. "ANSYS professional delivers a considerable amount of technology right out of the box, and is ideal for those who lack ANSYS experience." Top
