Servo Coupling
The EKC Series servo coupling from GAM, Mount Prospect, IL, combines high precision and custom configurability with a low price. It is engineered to minimize space requirements as well as design and installation time.
Key features include a single bolt radial clamping hub, star-shaped elastomeric element with an involute tooth profile, and high shore hardness to ensure zero backlash over the product’s life. Utilizing the EKC provides compensation for small shaft misalignments and oscillation resonance is dampened. The couplings are both cast and machined and offer same day delivery.

Rod Clamp
The AMLOK(R) Hydraulic Series RCH Rod Clamp from Advanced Machine & Engineering (Rockford, IL) is designed to clamp components after the motion has stopped and to hold the position securely as long as the forces do not exceed table values.
The clamp’s mounting is designed to apply to heavy-duty NFPAstyle MF1 cylinders. The clamp comprises an alloy steel housing containing a special locking mechanism actuated by a set of disc springs. Holding force depends upon the rod diameter and the amount of hydraulic pressure available for unclamping. The clamp is designed for locking reciprocating motions only; special units are available for both rotating and reciprocating motions.

Conveyor Control
Holjeron (Tualatin, OR) has unveiled conveyor control assemblies and 24 VDC motor-driven rollers able to operate in extreme temperature and humidity conditions. Using the company’s Zonelink(TM) controls and Microroller(R) powered rollers, the harsh-duty subsystems are suited for freezer and refrigerator applications, as well as low ambient temperature environments both indoors and out. Customers may select a pre-engineered two-zone controller assembly for rugged environments.
All control wiring is completed for “plug and run” operation. Holjeron’s harsh duty dual zone controller assembly provides protection for the electrical controls, driver cards and wiring for the powered rollers. It can incorporate an optional 24VDC power supply to operate two microrollers, two sensors and the communication connections.

Multi-Rib Belt
The PolyVee belt driven roller and RollerDrive from Interroll (Wilmington, NC) provides reliable torque transmission up to 300 percent higher than traditional O-rings. Unlike other multirib belts, the PolyVee belt features a flexible core that allows it to be applied without any tensioning device. In addition, the PolyVee belt accepts center-to-center distance tolerances, without impairing performance, and quickly and accurately controls the starting and stopping of boxes on a conveyor.
The high torque PolyVee multi-rib belt has a new hub and belts with up to four ribs, minimizing belt slippage and providing superior torque transmission and long life cycle. It is suited for most conveying applications including roller curves, 24VDC pallet conveyors, long transport zones, and high speed applications.

Anti-Backlash
Nut
Haydon Switch & Instrument (Waterbury, CT) has released
the “W” series of anti-backlash nuts, designed
to minimize backlash between the leadscrew and nut interface.
A blend of self-lubricating polyacetal and stainless
steel screw material compensates for wear to avoid lock-ups.
Available in a range of diameters and leads for applications
requiring precise positioning, the nuts provide long
operational life and a system that augments system stiffness
while reducing drag torque. It can be used as a standalone
product.

Conveyor
System
The Quickdraw® conveyor system from MagStar Technologies
(Hopkins, MN) is designed for lab and cleanroom
environments. It stands 2-7/8" and is only 1-1/2"
wider than the transport tray. It uses sealed ball bearings
rather than belts. The unit allows for variable speed,
bi-directional transport, changeable layouts, and precision
stopping for tight-tolerance processing. Integrated
sensors provide users with conveyor control within specific
conveyor zones. The control system is self-contained
with plug-and-go operation so no PLC is needed for setup
or operation. Sensor, logic, and motor controls are
built into the rail for easy access.

Reciprocating
Platform
Amacoil (Aston, PA) offers a reciprocating linear motion
platform driven by a rolling ring drive that reciprocates
automatically without requiring motor reversal. Designed
for a PCB measurement/cleaning process, the assembly
may also be used for scanning barcodes on parts and
other applications requiring repetitive back-and-forth
movement. Rolling ring bearings inside the drive assure
a backlash-free motion. Smooth reversal is achieved
with a modified reversal mechanism that dampens the
reversal action, dissipating forward momentum at the
reversal points.
Using a control knob on the assembly, adjustments to
linear speed are possible on the fly, without changing
motor speed or reducing gears. The device contains no
hydraulics or pneumatics, and the linear drive requires
lubrication once every three months. Speed and travel
direction are controlled mechanically, eliminating the
need for programming or electronics. Components are
precision-machined to limit vertical and horizontal
movement of the platform to within ±0.00".
Length of travel may be increased or decreased via adjustable
end stops.

Rodless
Cylinders
The HORV Series of rodless cylinders from Humphrey Products
(Kalamazoo, MI) have a flat piston that creates a profile
that is 40% thinner than conventional rodless cylinders
of equal bore and stroke. The block-type end cap eliminates
the need for mounting brackets. The body places no loads
on either the actuator axis or the stand. A sensor switch
track uses a cap groove that allows the lead wires for
embedded sensor switches to be drawn out from a single
surface. The HORV Series features a high-strength stainless
steel band instead of a plastic band, and is available
with NPT ports and mounting options that include a shock
absorber unit and F-tube supports.

Rotary
Selector Valves
Beswick Engineering (Greenland, NH) offers a rotary
selector valve that may be used as a replacement for
solenoid valves. In the standard configuration, a single
input can be switched among 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 output
ports. The valve is available with detents for manual
operation with a knob, or without detents for automatic
operation with a servo or stepper motor. The non-selected
ports are vented to atmosphere. In an optional configuration
with built-in check valves, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 input ports
can be switched to a single output port. Outside diameter
of the valve head is slightly over 1".

165 Precisor® II pneumatic and electro-pneumatic
positioners for harsh environments. The pre-calibrated
instruments include transformation from direct action
to reverse action, with the choice of linear or equal
percentage valve flow characteristics. The positioners
provide valve control when combined with Dwyer linear
valve actuators.

Ball Screws
The BSS Series Ball Screws from NSK Precision America’s
(Addison, IL) provide linear speeds up to 240 m/min.
The nut design reduces maximum nut diameter by 30% when
compared to conventional tub-type designs, making them
compact and lighter in weight. The BSS Series may reduce
noise levels of 6 dB over conventional ball screws.
Vibration levels have also been reduced, resulting in
smoother movement and less wear and tear.
