Rod Lock
The RLN Series Rod Lock from Advanced Machine & Engineering Co. (Rockford, IL) is designed to solve pneumatic control problems such as overtravel, drifting, bouncing, and reverse traveling.
The Amlok(R) type RLN is constructed of black anodized aluminum with a piston and wedge locking mechanism actuated by multiple springs that mechanically lock the rod quickly and securely. The clamp is unlocked when air actuates the piston, compresses the spring, and releases the locking device.

Pressure Control Valve
HAWE Hydraulics, Charlotte, NC, has introduced the type CLK, a pressure control valve with an additional safety function to provide operational ease within hydraulic systems where temperature increases and/or external load peaks can lead to problems.
When closed, the seated valve is leakage-free, eliminating the need for additional check valves or continuous refeeding. It provides flow rates up to 5.8gal/min at 380 bar (5,500psi) for systems with a maximum pressure of 500bar (7250 psi). The valve has a screw-in cartridge design.

Speed Regulator
The Cushion-Start Kinechek® speed regulator from Deschner Corp., Santa Ana, CA, combines the shock absorbing feature of the company’s Cushioneer® shock absorber with the Kinechek® speed regulator. The impact-absorbing feature is a safeguard for those applications where a fast moving load exerts an impact force beyond the regulator’s capacity.
Approximately 25% of the beginning of the stroke is used for cushioning, and then the remaining portion of the stroke will control the load with the same constant uniformity as a regular Kinechek. Leak-proof and fully adjustable, the regulators are available in ½ inch,1 inch, 2 inch and 3 inch sizes, with a maximum capacity of 1200 lb.

Pneumatic
Valve
I&J Fisnar (Fair Lawn, NJ) has released the VMP30H
multipurpose mini-poppet pneumatic valve designed for
controlled dispensing of low to high viscosity materials
such as silicone, epoxy, rubber adhesives, and greases.
The poppet design minimizes surface area and friction
between the valve and the material. A diaphragm located
between the driving parts and the wetted parts increases
valve life. Shot sizes may be fine-tuned by turning
the control knob at the top of the valve. The valve
features a “suck-back” effect, where material
is drawn back into the fluid body at the end of the
dispensing cycle.

Collet
Chuck
Lexair (Lexington, KY) has announced the Lexair/ Production
Dynamics Full Bore® chuck, a mechanical-grip, air-release,
front-mounted collet chuck designed to make the full
spindle bore available to handle larger bar stock. The
design eliminates the conventional draw tube and external
actuator. Air is used only to open the chuck. Spring
force holds the workpiece while it is being machined,
and the part remains clamped even if air pressure is
lost. Since clamping force is constant regardless of
spindle speed, higher speeds can be reached during machining.
Clamping force is adjustable by tightening or loosening
the collet using the spanner holes.
The chuck features adjustable concentricity and dead-length
positioning to allow hex, round, and square bar feeding
with fast collet or pad changes. Pads are available
in 1/16" increments for round, smooth stock and most
sizes for round serrated, hex, and square stock. It
is available in nine models with diameters ranging from
6.75" to 14".

Compact
Cylinder
The RLQ series from SMC Corporation of America (Indianapolis,
IN) is a compact cylinder with an integrated locking
mechanism and air cushions. It is available in bore
sizes of 32, 40, 50, and 63 mm. By using the same extrusion
as the cylinder itself, the lock unit portion of the
cylinder does not have unnecessary projections. The
one-way lock mechanism is lightweight, allowing installation
in tight spaces. The air cushion design does not require
a cushion ring, and reduces the overall length of the
cylinder.
